Gearing Up for World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day Postcard ExchangeWorld Diabetes Day is coming up in another month. November 14th will be here before we know it. If you haven’t signed up already, check out Lee Ann Thill’s World Diabetes Day Postcard Exchange. Lee Ann is collecting names to do a postcard exchange on World Diabetes Day. Everyone loves getting fun mail and this gives people who could not otherwise participate in World Diabetes Day an opportunity to participate. You don’t have to make some fancy, crafty postcard to participate. I am not a crafty person and I am planning on participating. You can read more about it here or check out the Facebook page here.

Blue Fridays in NovemberAnother thing going on in November is Blue Fridays. That is petty simple and all you have to do is wear blue on Fridays in November and on World Diabetes Day. I say it is simple but I guess it is not simple if you don’t have any blue clothes! I am sure most of is have something blue that we can wear though.

Last but not least is the Big Blue Test. I am trying to organize a Big Blue Test walk in my neighborhood because I know there are a bunch of other diabetics that live here. Hopefully I won’t be walking alone on World Diabetes Day but I will be walking regardless of how many other people show up. Like last year, there will be a Big Blue Test video that Roche will contribute money for each click.

  1. Thanks for posting about the Postcard Exchange! I’m excited about the new Blue Fridays initiative, and it’s great to see the Big Blue Test getting bigger and better every year too! It’s going to be an exciting Diabetes Month with lots going on 🙂

    • Thanks Lee Ann. I am looking forward to making my postcard. I just saw in Facebook that there are now official Big Blue Test T-shirts – I guess I have to get one of those now!

  2. Yes, I read about this too – it is a great idea to strengthen our bonds and reach out to new people in the community. Sometimes, getting a physical item that shows someone cares can give you a big boost to your day. Definitely going to participate!
