Happy Easter!

Christmas CactusI just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter! My Christmas cactus is confused and ‘thinks” that it is an Easter cactus – it bloomed just in time for Easter. I bought it in the spring of 2009 and this is the first time it has bloomed. I even Googled the difference between Christmas and Easter cactuses to make sure I wasn’t sent an Easter cactus by mistake. Not that anyone would ever mess up an order! They say that the leaves are jagged on the Christmas cactus and round on the Easter cactus – mine are jagged so I guess it is really a Christmas cactus. Who cares if it is confused, I am just glad that it actually bloomed!  And peach is more of an Easter color than Christmas color so no wonder it is confused.

It wouldn’t be a holiday without some holiday funnies, and that includes Easter!

We also shouldn’t forget the true meaning of Easter – the resurrection of Jesus. I use Gmail and it saves everything in an “all mail” folder. I used the search term “Easter” to find some Easter pictures in emails and this came up so I thought I would share it here – an obituary for Jesus. A wonderful reminder of what Easter is truly about.

  1. I used to have a Christmas cactus too, and it never bloomed on Christmas. If I remember correctly, mine used to bloom for Thanksgiving. 🙂
